Welcome to the
Worcestor County Sheep Growers Association

The Worcester County Sheep Producer Association is comprised of full and part time who tend flocks of purebred and crossbred sheep, focused on lamb and/or wool production.

Our mission is to provide a resource for those who raise sheep, are contemplating raising sheep or merely want to support the industry in Worcester County and Eastern Massachusetts.  In recent years, similar organizations located in Eastern Massachusetts have ceased operation and the Worcester County Producers have extended the hand of welcome to all of their former members and to all who wish to participate in our organization.

Our group meets for a potluck dinner and a program presentation on the first Tuesday of every month, October thru May.  We rotate the meetings among the farms of our membership and you can find our 2009-2010 meeting schedule on our “Meetings” page.

Our meeting schedule is tailored to serve the complete range of interests of our members and is designed to expand our knowledge through the interchange in information among friends.

Our meetings are held during the fall, winter and spring, normally on the first Tuesday of the month. We meet in the homes and on the farms of our members on a voluntary basis and the meeting consists of a program and a potluck dinner.  To attend a meeting you merely call the host for the evening and tell them what you intend to bring for dinner.

Membership is made up of a good mix of “old timers” and new entrants to the world of shepherding.  Our members raise many different types of sheep ranging from strictly Meat breeds to strictly Wool breeds and all of those in between.  Some of our members compete with their sheep at local and regional fairs, while others run commercial flocks focused on lamb or wool production alone.  To join our association, call any of our current officers who are listed on our “Officers” page or call the host of the next regularly scheduled meeting to find out what to bring and just come, or send an e-mail to our corresponding secretary at beadsheep@charter.net

If you would like to be on our meeting notice mailing list, contact our corresponding secretary, Barbara Haberlin, PO Box 581, Brookfield, MA 508-637-1239, beadsheep@charter.net
